Course Aims

This unit is designed for those staff who have attended a one-day manual handling course and are due for their annual update. The programme complies with The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992. It will provide candidates with an update of the knowledge and skills required to undertake the manual handling of people safely within the workplace.

• Discuss all the legislation related to moving and assisting.
• Discuss spinal awareness and how to avoid injuries.
• Undertake a person centred moving and assisting risk assessment.
• Complete a work-based risk assessment.
• Demonstrate the use of a range of moving and assisting aids.
• Move people safely using a range of safe techniques.
